Holiday Wrap Project - December 14, 2019

For over thirty-five years, the Soroptimist of the Toms River Area members have come together for their annual Holiday Wrap Project.  The project happens during the December holiday season; it consists of the SITR members coming together twice during the month. In early December we meet to fill mugs with hot chocolate, tea bags, crackers, mints and small candies, the cups are wrapped and tied with ribbons; we also create baggies filled with blank assorted greeting cards, stamps, notepads, pencils, and pens.

On another day in December, we gather together with volunteers at the Visiting Homemaker Service of Ocean County to prepare gift bags with the wrapped mugs, magazines, calendars, dental products, toiletries, cookies and other assorted snack items topped off with a gift and a seasonal message personally from us.
These bags are distributed to local organizations in Toms River that serve women, and Visiting Homemaker Service of Ocean County also distributes bags to select seniors in their program.
This hands-on project is one of the ways we do community outreach with people, youth, and local organizations in our area.

The project continues to grow, and that would not be possible without donations. We thank our local businesses, club members and the citizens for their generosity.
